The Best 6 Months...

    Jaxon's 6-Month Update

(minus the pics...those are coming soon.)

“May the Lord BLESS and PROTECT you. May His face RADIATE with JOY because of you. May He be GRACIOUS unto you, show you His FAVOR, and give you His PEACE." Numbers 6:24-26
    -Jaxon's Life Verse

We wrote this for Jaxon's baby book and decided to blog it as an update.

  • You are as sweet as they come! Not sure if God makes them any sweeter than you these days. =)
  • Daddy and I love to come get you out of your crib when you wake up from your naps. We sometimes argue about who gets to go get you up next! Your huge smiles and sweet coos that you give when you wake up melts our hearts.
  • We love when you reach your little chubby arms out for us to hold you now; how you wrap them around our neck and lay your precious head on our shoulder…the best feeling in the world!
  • We have been working on weaning you off the swaddle…you pretty much bust out of it to play with your toys anyway these days...but sometimes you have no idea what to do with your little hands and love the comfort of being wrapped up still.
  • You are still totally mellow and laid back. You go with the flow even when your schedule is off and are being passed from person to person.
  • You are a TALKER! You have so much to say these days…almost like you think we understand exactly what you are trying to say and are mimicking sounds a lot more.
  • We love how your little hands are constantly out in front of you, ready to touch anyone or anything you can get your little hands on.
  • We love how you like to play with Daddy’s goatee and how you put your sweet hands on our cheeks when we hold you. Priceless!
  • You absolutely LOVE the cats now! You get SO excited whenever they are nearby and go out of your way to grab their fur. If anything will motivate you to crawl…they will. You even get really mad and start to cry when they walk away or we take you away from them!
  • You are developing such a sense of humor these days. From laughing at the towel wrapped up on Mama’s head after a shower, to mimicking silly noises we make at you…it amazes us how much you catch on to! The other day Mama was laughing with your cousin Maddy over something random…and even though you didn’t have a clue why we were laughing, you decided to chime in anyway just to fit in!
  • You also have a very serious side. You love looking at mechanical type things…and still have the little furrowed eyebrow thing going on when you aren’t so sure about something.
  • We are surprised that you seem to need your alone time like Daddy. Sometime when nothing seems to help the “fussiness” we found that you cheer right up when we let you play with you toys in your crib alone for awhile. =)
  • The stats? Well, you are a very LONG kiddo…in the 99th percentile for length and the 50th percentile for weight! You are definitely in 6-9 month diggs now…and often times you are sportin’ 9 month pants and sleepers in order to prevent “highwaters”! Lol!
  • We love the fact that you have your Nanna Carol’s and Great Grandpa Chester’s twinkle in your eye…so special to your Mamma especially!
  • We totally love how you jump and swing that head around the minute you hear daddy’s voice when home from work. You also have a special liking to your Nanna Carol…who gets the most “gabbing” and all-out smiles from ya. We think it’s adorable that your gaze is always keeping tabs on where Daddy and Nanna are in the room at all times. This even trumps your attention to your food source (which is saying A LOT)!
  • You’re looking more and more like a “Grant” these days. Your eyes are like your Mommy and your forehead, nose and mouth are totally like your Daddy. You, by far, are told the most that you look like your Grandpa Dave. This is very fitting since your middle name is after him. We also hear you look like Uncle Matt and Cousin Owen.
  • Your Daddy is so proud that you LOVE music. When you are really tired at night, you love to have Daddy sing to you. Even better, y0u seem to like Daddy’s band the best! Sometimes his voice is the only thing that will calm you when you are sad.
  • Sucking on your toes is now a favorite pastime.
  • You love your rice cereal now, and recently are very fond of applesauce.
  • Your nicknames include: Monkey, Buh buh, J-Man, Jack Jack, JackMan, and Baby Bear!
  • Your favorite songs are: “Baby Bumble Bee”; “I love you, you love me”; “Honeybunch, Sugarplum, Pumpy-umpy-umpkin”; “Twinkle, Twinkle”;“Pit Pit Patter”; “Itsy Bitsy Spider”; and “Ho-Ho-Ho-Hosannah”
  • Your killer smile can sure light up a room…but you make people wait a few seconds before handing out that sweet, toothy grin with dimples attached! Trust me…it is well worth the wait.
  • You are quite the little model for your Mommy’s photography obsession. You are intrigued by the big black thing that is constantly in your face.
  • You recognize your name…and even if you can’t see us, you respond to us when we talk to you from another room.
  • All in all…this has been the best 6 months of our lives and we can’t imagine life without you. You have brought more joy and sheer pleasure these past few months than we have experienced in a lifetime. You are the perfect addition to our little Harris Unit and we couldn’t have picked out a better one ourselves! You are truly a gift from our Heavenly Father and a gift in more ways than you know.

wow. what a gorgeous little man you have, and wonderful that you've documented his update ... it's just lovely.
When we transitioned from swaddling we used a Peke Moe - http://www.pekemoe.co.nz and it worked immediately for our little boy.
all the best. god bless.
